I want to put better lighting, and a switch h the door, in my storage compartment on the port side. Also, I want to add a 12v outlet and a dual usb outlet into the globe box, tapping the power from the existing light in the same compartment. Anyone have any good write ups on this? I installed my ICOM handheld unit in the glovebox today and want to power/charge it from a standard 12v outlet. And we always seem to need more phone charging ports, so I want to add a dual usb outlet as well. Any advice would be appreciated. I’m guessing I can surface mount most of the wiring in the storage compartment but I want to make it look at nice as possible. I’m thinking some kind of LED strip along the ceiling in there.

I added lights to both port and starboard rooms, on a door switch as well. I'm only finding the one pic, but I chose a fixture that had it's own switch in-case I wanted to leave the door open. I chose a sealed switch, which ended up being an overhead door alarm switch by Honeywell. But it worked.

This will not help in your quest to add USB outlets, but I just purchased battery powered LED push on lights . Batteries last fairly long and I added Velcro to attach them. WorkEd out great and very simple, placed them on the inside of
the doors as you open door, just push on.

Check out superbrightleds.com. I have used them several times. Fantastic products!
