Well my bilge pump stopped working last time out. So I ordered a new replacement that would fit down in the hole through the liner. Ended up ordering a 3 wire in replace of the two wire. The oem is a two wire which means the only time it works is when the switch is on. The call this an automatic pump as it cycles every 2.30 minutes. If the impeller senses residence than it will stay on. I know have the pump wired to the house battery as well as the switch. When the house battery is on, the pump is on in automatic mode cycling every 2.3 minutes. If need by I can hit the switch on the dash and it will run manually. These pumps are a bit pricy at $90

And you confirmed that the old one was dead and not just clogged? Surprising for it to go out that fast....

Yep. Seemed to have an internal short. Would work for a few minutes and then nothing. Just did not want to take a chance. Did pull it out and checked the screen and it was clean.

Great idea.
What was the model number of the replacement?
