New member here. When doing a Bimini run with the group, what are the rules for returning with the group? My Crew wants to hop around to multiple island chains?

I may be speaking out of turn here, but there don't seem to be any Rules, only multiple options. I mean that in a good way.

Do you know where I can find these options? I need to find out if My boat has to return with the group?

Of course not. It's your boat. You can do as you please.

You do realize that there isn't much island hoping around Bimini unless you are prepared to go many miles further.

It's my understanding that you aren't tied to anything, but out of courtesy, you should inform the group of your plans.

Check the "Gatherings" section for Bimini trips, there's a long thread about what to expect. Overall, it's just a group of boaters that have similar intentions to go to Bimini, and traveling in a group lowers some of the risk associated with the crossing, while providing a time to meet some nice people.

Yes, we are looking to visit Chub Cay and Nassau ( Atlantis)

Thanks!

IIRC this is well over 100 miles from Bimini to Nassau. Not happening lol

Is there not a stop in Chub Cay? Then on to Nassau?

Yes! I know I have seen videos of Jet boats in Chub, Atlantis, and Exumas. Thanks!

Google shows Chub Cay at 95 miles from Bimini. Not saying it can't be done, but it probably isn't a trip to take without extensive research and planning.

What he said^^^^^.
Bimini is a good trip in a YJB and with enough planning there is a very good chance of it being a very enjoyable experience. Beyond that it gets tricky. Totally possible, but way way more involved, at least if you plan to come back in the same boat, and with the same crew, lol.

If this is your first trip, I'd go to Bimini only. There is PLENTY to do there to fill a whole week up and WAY more! That said, you can return when ever you like - your call. Just be courteous to whomever you crossed with to let them know you won't be returning with them. I am going for the third time this year and can't wait....

what dates are you going?

@jsoell I have been to Exuma on a jet boat we went back in 2016. We had 2 boats and two skis with our crew. Its around 100 miles to Chub following the correct path as you can't straight line it as there are sand bars along the Bahama bank. Then another 45 miles to Nassau from there. IF you do plan it I would take enough fuel with so a stop in Chub is not necessary as they were less then organized there and fuel is not guaranteed to be there as they were not pumping fuel the day we arrived. I would highly recommend just planing a trip to Bimini as a first time experience as many think they would like to go further but after a trip to Bimini decide they have no desire to venture any further and that's a lot of expense to book lodging in Nassau to just arrive in Bimini and have your crew say no way they are going on and yes that has happened before heck many people don't return to Bimini even because they don't feel that is worth the beating you take to get there.

There are 4 Bimini threads for 2019, I am not sure if I the knot on my stomach is from excitment or being scared sh**less

I really had debated on starting an Exuma 2019 thread to kind of document along the way the kind of effort and prep it takes to pull this trip off as we are in the middle of planing our return now. For your health @Betik I will resist doing so if a Bimini thread gives you knots an Exuma thread may give you a hernia.

@robert843 you, Isaac, Jermery, Andy & the gang are responsible for me spending $60K that I should have not spend. And as if that was not bad enough, that expense came with a package of once a lifetime friends.

I am looking forwarded to a reading that will give me hernia. Although, I am not sure that should be public information. I am noticing that people tend to multiply the excitement by 110% and the preparation by 10%.
