I know the limit says 25 mph for running with the bimini top up, but how many of you have run with it up at higher speeds? Any damage from doing that? It feels like we are creeping along at 25, but the Florida sun is relentless.

What's your thoughts?

I take mine up to 35 without issue. . . . however, I believe boats with towers may be allowed a little more speed due to the tower rigidity.

I never had a problem with the bimini up when running at any speed. I never left it up when towing.

Is it 25 for boats without a tower? is there a limit for one with a tower?

There is a limit, but my manual is on my boat about 2 hours away (until Sunday). . . .

guess I should read the manual, I've taken mine up to 35 at least with the bimini open

I thought it said 45 max speed with Bimini open

I believe it iseems higher for boats with towers. . . . Anyone have the manual handy?

Yea 45 for both the sx and ar 240 2010 image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

51 on a good day

Unfortunately my bimini comes apart at the zipper seams when biting with the bimini up. I've had it repaired 3 times. I'm considering a new custom one made out ofor Sunbrella

Mine is custom and snaps to tower. I will leave it up at all speeds but rarely go over about 35. Have had it up at 45 with wind on bow. You can tell it's not happy....

Mine says 45 max on a tag attached to the bimini fabric. I have definitely gone that fast while up. Of course one of my straps just broke the other day but after 11 years, I figured that wasn't too bad. ;)

I wasn't aware of the limit but had bimini deployed while pulling my tube @ ~30mph - 35mph and the rod with little button and hole that allow for extending and retracting, which connects the front part of the bimini to the tower, disconnected. Luckily no damage to the boat or bimini but I could see someone losing that part in the water when this happens. Now I make sure to put the bimini away if I'm planning to go at higher speeds.

Ive driven next to 242's with their tops up at highway speed (70mph)

I have towed, wakeboard, skied and gone right at 50 with the top up and no problems. For my crew we never went fast with most water sports so absolutely no issues. 50 was rare and we usually cruised at around 30 with no problems.

I've done 50 mph with my Bimini up.....both on road and on water..... 212x w/tower

The drive between boat launch and garage is about 4 miles, I wait to get home to finish up the closing up.

Ironically I found this thread cause I'm looking for a new Bimini top........( due to fading, not shredding)
