I’m looking for a larger Bimini top. I have a 212 limited s the top is ok, just small. I want to use a 242x Bimini top on my 212. Is there any company that sales a conversion kit or a custom top that is the same size as the Bimini top on the 242. I’m not a fan of the add-on’s. I’m Looking for a stowable top with the factory look. CCCD3499-9340-4C51-A88B-9FF3FD75A342.jpeg

Would love to hear more about this. I need to to something as well.

Yamaha has a giant Sun Shade they sell, but I don't think you would be able to drive with it on. I know a few others have this shade (ie. @2kwik4u). You could see what their opinion is of it

I got that top from @swatski I haven't used it on the water yet. I can say that it was a big deal to put up on dry land, so I'm not optimistic of it being easy on the water.

I can say, even without using it on the water, there is no way it would stay put underway. Just not stable enough.

Someone made a GIANT top out of extruded aluminum rail and canvas covering. I can't remember who it was though. Wasn't quite as sleek as the tubular 242XE Bimini, but served the same purpose and had the same effect.

check out sureshade. would probably work nice with your tower

After a ton of searching and post on multiple forums I can’t find any other that add ons. And most of what I found is not recommended for speeds over 25. So I will be building my own during winter. My guess is the demand isn’t high enough for a product to exist in the market yet. Hopefully after this record breaking boat sales year there will be more options. But for now guess I’ll make my own.

Will do. I’m going to do my homework and come up with a option to use my factory Bimini frame.

@Jason spanick , I’m pretty sure that the product you are looking for doesn’t exist. If it did I would have bought it instead of had one And a boot custom built (At relatively great expense, two times). My extension is based on those that Some of the early 210 and 230 series Yamahas had. That is the main top has a zipper on the trailing edge that the extension Is zipped to and the fabric is supported by a single bow that can be broken down into three parts for storage purposes. Like the oem units mine can be used at WOT but the eom units buffeted a lot at WOT. Warning, Materials can get expensive quick. Sunbrella prices range from $12 to $25 per linear foot, I think the rolls are 3’ long.

Im looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Good luck.

MSC 3 bow bimini top boat cover, absolutely met and exceeded my expectation. Set it right up. Assembled to the boat in 30 min.. Family was full of compliments and gratitude for the protection it gave. Folds up and down in a jiffy. The support poles in back were just right. The boat cover is so spacious and easy to load and zip. Wish I could say that for the boot on my other boat ! I highly recommend this Bimini and would absolutely buy it again.
