So my engine in the 2004 XLT800 is kaput. Compression on cylinder 1 is 45, cylinder 2 is 125. My jetski shop isnt willing to swap the motor for me as he "hates" this engine. Its a 2 stroke so this likely happened from the oil sender breaking and then starving the engine
With that said I have a couple questions if someone can assist.
How hard is it to swap the motor? I'm assuming I need to get a rebuilt off the web somewhere.
Can I change it from a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke?
If I cant swap to 4 stroke, can I remove the oil sender portion, and just premix? If so, how much oil needs premixed and how hard is that to do?
Finally, is it better to sink the $3K into repairing this one, or find something else out there?
