While I may not have agreed with the politics of the strip, I really enjoyed the characters (and the fact that it never got super-political like Doonesbury). It was life viewed from the perspective of a small-town like the one I was growing up in at the time the original strip ran. (Opus' naive innocence mirrored my own sometimes.)
Whether I'll enjoy it as much this time around really depends on how political Mr. Breathed decides to get. I'm hoping he'll stick with the silliness of old and keep the politics to a minimum.
