Board socks?

Anybody use a board sock for their wakesurf boards? I ran across these and wasn’t sure if these are useful to protect your board or just an unnecessary accessory.

There are some wakesurf board constructions that start to fail in moderate heat, like sitting in summer sun. So anything to keep them cooler, like shade, sock, etc., can make them last longer.

Unnecessary. I'm still using the same wakeboard i bought in 1994. It's been in the sun for hundreds of hours, temps exceeding 120f. No issues other than slight fading. Store the wakesurf with the turf side down and keep your money.

How to Properly Care for a Wakesurf Board

HOW HOT IS TOO HOT?
We like to say, if it’s too hot for your dog, it’s too hot for your board! When not in use, exposure to direct sunlight can severely damage your wakesurf board. The elements can wreak havoc on your board over an extended period of time, especially sunlight.
Your board is made to be enjoyed in the outdoors, but when not in use some rules should be followed for proper storage.

Follow these GOLDEN RULES to keep your board from heat damage:

• When not in use, never leave your board exposed to direct sunlight for an extended amount of time.
• We recommend NOT storing your board on the top of your Bimini.
• Always keep your board in a shaded area when not in use. At high temperatures, the EPS foam core can become unstable which can lead to serious damage to your board.
• A board bag is not meant and shouldn’t be used to store or transport your board in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. It cannot be guaranteed to protect from overheating and can sometimes create an “oven” effect if left in a hot car.

Overheating your wakesurf board is not covered by your manufacturer’s warranty. Be sure to take care of your wakesurf boards this summer to enjoy them for years to come!
UPDATE: Board racks are not made for travel! One of the fastest ways to screw up a board is to leave it in the rack on the way to or from the lake.
