I just recently purchased a Yamaha 195S and I was wondering what hitch would work best. I drive a 2017 Ram Rebel and have a starter Reese hitch on it. I am not sure if I need a drop hitch or if a standard hitch would work. I like the B&W stow away hitches, just not sure how many inches of drop to get. Any help is appreciated.

For most 1500 pickups, a 4" adjustable drop should cover you. Measure the height to the centerline of your receiver. I would expect it to be in the 19-21" range.

Use your trailer jack to ensure the trailer itself is level. Measure from where the ball goes on the trailer hitch, up to the centerline of the receiver as John mentioned. That distance is your drop (or rise). If there isn't a difference, a straight hitch is fine. There is no reason to get anything else unless you require it, or if you want an "upgrade".

Thanks for the input. I went with a three inch drop B&W as a little upgrade.

What is your height of that 3" drop? also at what point on the hitch do you measure? top of ball? base? thanks. i have the same and am waiting on my boat. trying to get everything inline.

Here is a good video on how to do it. If you tow a lot, get an adjustable hitch. If not, get a static one for your boat.
thats a great video. now i just need the height of the trailer since i dont have it yet. thanks.

so i did all that in the video. came up with a 3" drop with my leveled GMC with 33" tires. went to pick up my boat today the 3" drop was way to low. went the the original straight line hitch i had that luckily i brought with me.

Sounds like the trailer was the thing that needed to be level.

I have a SX190 and required 1/2 inch rise. Bottom of Trailer coupler is 21.75" from ground with trailer leveled (checking level at front - mid and back of trailer. The top of the inner hitch on my 2020 Ram 1500 Built to Serve is 21.25". 1/2 inch rise puts me level. Your Rebel is probably 1 inch higher than mine, so you may have to go 1/2 to 1 inch drop.
EDIT: actually my truck has off-road group which is same height as the rebel. You may be ok with same setup as I have.

Hey all, I'm about to pick up my 252S and need to buy a hitch for my 2020 Ram with air suspension. Are there any special requirements for hitch types on a truck with air suspension? Anyone with a similar set up?

I have automatic self leveling rear air suspension on my 2020 Silverado 1500 and the Weigh Safe Trailer Hitches - Towing Peace of Mind hitch works perfectly. No special requirements.

No special hitch needed for trucks with air suspension. Just make sure it fits your receiver size, that it has the correct ball size, and appropriate drop/rise.

You said a 2020 Ram with air suspension, is it a Ram 1500, 2500, or 3500. Is it 2wd or 4x4. I tow several different trailers so I prefer using an adjustable 8" drop hitch for my F250.

Hi, its a 1500 4x4...thanks

Looking at picking one of these up and noticed a lot of reviews saying to add grease before connecting the trailer. Do you run the hitch dry or with grease?

I've always greased the ball of the hitch before hooking it up. Just a good practice. Great hitch and built like a tank!
