Hey Everyone, I’m in the process of a move from Orlando to Charleston. With all of that is going on I am thinking of having the boat transported up to Charleston for me rather than me towing it up there.

My question is... has anyone used a transport service and if so how was your experience?

Normally I would just tow it myself but there are some extenuating circumstances and that is why I am exploring this option.

Hmm, maybe I can transport it up there - what is the going rate?

I have a friend who does it for a living. I think he's actually in FL right now. Not that it matters, he'll probably be in AZ tomorrow. If you want his number, send me a PM and I'll get it over to you.

Up 95 straight shot. Usually 2-3 dollars a mile i think.

Is there a reason for not wanting to tow yourself?

That is an easy drive and there is enough miles where you don’t have to pay for pick up.
A dollar per mile Should find you someone to tow it up there. $2-$3 is too much for current prices.
Are you familiar with uship?

BTW unless you find someone who can make a real good case I would NOT trust anyone willing to tow her for less than $0.75 per mile.

If I were you I would consider leaving the boat in storage for a month or two and then go pick it up myself. I hate random people dragging my little girl up and down the highways.

There are a few reasons unfortunately so just trying to work through my options.

Thank you for the response. I am actually speaking with my dealer to see if they can hold it for a few weeks for me if I bring it to them.

When we moved from FL to San Antonio I left my boat in storage and came back almost a month later to get it. I pulled my camper to TX first since we lived in it during the transition.

I looked into Uship and such and had a friend offer to take it a little over half way for me, since he was making the trip anyway, but I couldn’t justify paying a company to do it, and I don’t like random people, friend or not, pulling my stuff, not because I don’t trust them to do it, I just don’t want something to happen and then they have to deal with it (blow outs or accidents and such).

I hope you get it worked out the best possible way for your situation!

Another option would be to drop it in ICW make the trailer a flatbed with some plywood and then have someone drive her up via water...

Good luck with the move.

FYI: if you were making your boat 380 miles from Dallas I would have $536
