Have the older AR & SX 230 boats increased in value the last 1-3 years? I am thinking these boats in good condition are demanding more because the newer Yamaha 24 foot boats are $60k and the 27 foot boats are $120k.

Yes I am not seeing good condition 230s 2007+ drop in value much, most listed and selling for over $20K. 2004-2006 can be found in good condition for almost the same amount, but slightly lower.

Yea, totally agree here. I bought my 2007 SX230 back in 2013 for 23 and could probably sell it today for close to that.

I have been looking for the past 3 years for an 07-09 230 and they have ranged from 20-25K. I just bought an 07 sx230 with tower and galvanized trailer for 20K. I'm definitely not seeing the prices go down much.

Yamaha rising the prices on the new boats, and they 07-09 230s being some of the best boats Yamaha has ever built has contributed to this. Its crazy to think Yamaha AR230s used to cost 40,000 brand new and are still selling for mid 25's....

Until the economy tanks.. and don't mean to be doom and gloom but it's definitely been a great ride last 10 years.

So, are you saying that a boat could be an investment??

Hmmm...I could have bought my boat new for $33,000 back in the spring of 2009. (I bought used) Here it is 10 years later and it is still worth $24,000.

Not looking to argue but curious why you think the 07-09 230s are some of the best Yamahas.

Motors are flawless for most part. I believe the 07 has little higher sidewall then 04-06? All the motors in 07 went to MR1HO I believe as well.

I thought 07-15 had timing chain issues. The sides are higher than the 04-06

Styling, reliability, layout, storage space, pricing. It did win boat of the year in 2007. Have any other Yamaha boats accomplished that? I’m not aware of MR-1 motors having timing chain issues, I think that was a 1.8 motor issue.

Check that it looks like 2018 the Yamaha 210fsh was the boat of the year. I still stand by 07-09 AR230s being some of the best.

There weren’t a lot of new boats sold during or immediately after the Great Recession. Some boat builders went out of business.

Which has led to ridiculous prices for new and used boats.

There were no timing chain issues with 07 to 09 Yamaha MR-1's. This was a 1.8l engine issue for a few years pre 2016.

All 230s had way less storage than the 15 and up 240/242
675gallons to 836gallons no comparison there

I like that two storage areas on the back that the 04-06 AR230’s had. I don’t know why they did away with them in 07. Now you waste storage space on batteries. I liked the mr1s but the 1.8s are way smoother.

Styling wise I'm a sucker for the 230 and not a fan of the look of the wider bow of the 240. It's a styling thing and probably dates my old soul, but most people seem to like the styling of the 240 quite a bit.
