Break in information for 2020 195 ID

Should be 10 hours. I'd (try to) keep it under 5,000 RPMs before going WOT.

From my understanding, during the break-in period the throttle is limited automatically. RPM is limited until the break in period is over and it 'kicks in' after the break in period is done.

It should do that, yes, but just in-case...

3 hrs and full rpm is available on 200/250 single engine applications and all 300. Twin 200/250 6 hrs

10 hours to full break-in is correct...however:

BRP states you can use it normally right away as the ECM will limit throttle and gradually increase it until break-in is complete - about 3 hours total to get to WOT. However just like a car, they say throttle should be varied and continuous WOT is not recommended until 10 hours.

Yamaha does not use ECM limits so it's a manual break-in, about 1.5 hours and then WOT is allowed. It doesn't specify anything about 10 hours in the manuals (except oil change and checks), however I would limit continuous use just like BRP to 10 hours - it's a brand new engine.

With either, it takes about 10 hours for all of these engines to fully break-in and loosen up for maximum performance. Just like a car that needs 600+ miles to break-in and you need to vary the throttle to allow the surfaces to polish and loosen up to max performance levels. Notice that the TIME to break-in a car engine at 60mph is about 10 hours. Coincidence? I don't think so...

Thanks for the information. I don't pick the boat up until May. Just want all the information I can get. Thanks to everyone on this site I have learned the good and bad, it will help me to keep an eye out. The windshield seems to be a problem. I will inspect that when I pick it up and look too beef it up.

What problem are you referring to?

You will find the break-in period in the owner's manual when you get your boat. If you can't wait, then check out www.operatorsguides.brp.com , select "Rotax JPS" and then choose your engine.

*Edit*
It should be under "AH" as that seems to be the newest engines.

I'bought a new 195 ID pick up this May I've been going through all the problems people are having with scarab boats so I can educate myself. I know these problem maybe fixed by scarab but it let's me know what to keep an eye out. The wind shields on some scarab boats were shifting, they found lose screws and had to reinforce the wind shield from shifting. When I pick up the boat I'm going to look over the wind shield to make sure everything looks good. I wanted to thank everyone for educating myself and other members, it does really help.

Thanks for the info Nexus. By any chance is anyone else having issues with it loading? I tried to go to the page under AH and then to 300 motors and it shows a blank screen.

It works for me. I'm using a Chrome browser on Windows. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. Once you click on 300, there should be an "Operator's Guide (EN)" link below. I think that all four engine types (150,200,250,300) all link to the same manual.

If the above link doesn't work, let me know and I'll upload it directly.
