didnt notice if it was there at delivery but after my first outing I popped the engine hatch and found pieces of broken glass at the bottom of the compartment. Any ideas?

I don't think there is any glass back there, at least on my 2010 242 LS. It looks to light to be window glass? Maybe something else was dropped back there.

Way to PDI the boat, dealership.

Probably from the asshat who prepped your boat. Dropped his glass ice tea bottle and only picked up the part that didn't shatter.

Ok cool. I didn't see anything that looked like it was broken so just wanna make sure. I'll make them clean it up when I go back to get my stereo fixed...

I had a friend who was having problems with his engine shutting down after it ran for a while, every time he used the boat , since it was new he took it back to the dealer several times where the cause of the problem continued to elude everyone. Finally someone drained the fuel tank and located a potato chip bag and a sandwich wrapper inside the fuel tank, most likely from some low level employee or perhaps a disgruntled employee in the factory deciding it was easier to ditch his lunch wrappers in the tank than to go find a trash can. You would probably be surprised at what you would find dumped between the sheetrock of the walls in your house.

Turns out the windshield was broken during shipping and they must not have gotten all of the pieces. The dealer is going to clean it up for me.

I'll never forget working on mid rise condos, all the bottles of piss hidden in the walls. Once they start getting rank, they get found!

Ha! As an ex electrician - I can verify that ALL the trades dump stuff in the walls.

Worked plumbing...first lesson on new construction was never ever touch the water in the sump and ejector pits.

I do HVAC and have seen some nasty stuff but the worst was when someone took a dump on the floor of a machine room.

Glad you found out where the glass came from.
