I was driveway boating this weekend (getting the boat ready for the season) listening to the stock head unit (h2o audio ? With a spot for an iphone or iPod behind the face when about two hours in it went dead. I hit the on button a few times and the display would come on for a second before going blank.

I didn't have time to trouble shoot it but all of the other accessories worked (bilge, horn, etc.) so I think the battery is fine but I stuck it on the charger / maintainer anyway. I have heard that the swim deck remote is wireless and can cause problems as it gets old /buttons start to stick.

Anyone know if the wire is wired or wireless.

Anyone selling the stock head unit / remote from their 242ls or l. I think the brands changed but I'm really after a plug and play solution and don't want to buy or fabricate a mounting adapter if I can acoid it.

Check your connections....and check the battery. Electronics like GPS and Stereo are much less tolerant of low voltage than your horn/blower are.

@Julian , you were right, after being on the charger / maintainer for two days the stereo came on and stayed on without issue. It had been close to a month since I unplugged the charger but I only had the stereo on at low volume for a few hours so I will take the batteries in to be tested and will replace them both even if only one fails. They are five seasons old now so I won't be surprised if it is time to replace them.

@Ronnie thanks for posting - good reminder, good call @Julian. This is exactly the kind of scenario I worry about if it were to happen on the water. I will be installing a LVD, like @Bruce in this recently revived thread - https://jetboaters.net/threads/my-unusual-alternate-dual-battery-setup.5632/
I think that is such a great device, vastly underutilized it would seem (IMHO), should be standard equipment.

And not to hijack, my OEM HU had horrible connections, I ended up cutting and soldering all.
