Looking to upgrade the sound situation while under power. We primarily run in the 16 to 22 mph range. With the stock stereo turned up so I can hear it driving (I only drive standing up) it's to loud for my wife and child. Will a set of tower speakers help this situation. I want to keep it around $1000 for amp and speakers. I do not want to add a extra battery right now will the stator be able to power the amp while running, we don't usually run the stereo when parked, and always have a small jumper pack on board.

Tower speakers obviously add a lot more sound, but they are behind you, as the driver. If you want more sound as the driver, you should another pair speakers mid-ship first. Of course this depends on which boat you.B05B5B27-04F4-4DD3-BA13-11AFB5B254EB.jpeg4158AC02-065D-484C-B0AB-B1F608583848.jpeg

Mid speakers would not work for me. I can hear it cruising but not standing ( I only drive standing up) if turned up loud enough so I can hear it wife says it to loud for her sitting down. I was hoping a set of 6.5 or 8 inch tower speakers would help out.

If you want to hear any speakers while driving it will be too loud for your wife...it's just the nature of the beast. I guess you could put two speakers at the helm somehow and but them on a front/rear channel and put wife/kid up front and put all the sound in the rear. Tower speakers won't help with that problem.

Could you use tower speakers and face them to the front?

Poly-Planer and Aquatic AV offer 3" marine speakers, Fusion and Kicker offer 4".

Perhaps you could install such a speaker in the helm facing toward you.

Alternately if you have a tower a sound bar facing toward you could help. Wet Sounds makes a very nice one in your price range.
