So, as I sit here 9.5 hours into the 12 hour drive (ride) home from bimini, I thought I'd try googling on my tiny android device with no luck. My flip up portion of the captains chair broke on the return crossing this morning. Looks like it's just a piece of plastic. Common? Easy replacment? Cheap?!

Looks like the flip up bolster is only attached by a wide plastic arm on each side that runs down beside the cushion and maybe bolts on to the seat frame? It's my port side piece that broke.

Thanks,

I recall others reporting this same problem with no solution found. My guess is that you need to find the seat manufacturer and then see if they offer replacement parts. A Yamaha product specialist should be able to provide that info....I hope!

wave when you go through Raleigh....

Hah, we don't go that way. Coming up on Charlotte now. Dave should be pulling into holly springs right now though! And we'll likely be on falls next weekend if we can ever get the Bahamian water out of our heads.

im going to a conference at sunset beach this week... but we will prob be on falls on Saturday as well..

I wonder if you could have a metal (aluminum) replacement made? I bet others would be interested if you could find a fabricator.

I just happen to know a badass fab guy...

After a bit of research I think the seats might be made by www.wiseseats.com

You can call to verify and see if they will send you a replacement bracket under warranty

The proper way to utilize the seat bolster:

I had the same problem on my 210. I had it fixed under warranty and they just replaced the whole captain's chair. Now that I know that it's prone to breaking I keep the throwable cushion between the bolster and the back of the seat so it will only go back so far. Just a bad design if you ask me.

Hey Walt, welcome home......If your fabrication guy doesn't work out let em know.....Or, if you have no need for the broken piece I may have use: I could redesign it into a nice 3d model, and see about getting a few dozen fabricated in china......should the forum see a benefit.

Mine broke on the 2013 Bimini trip. Yamaha doesn't sell that part and just replaced the entire seat under warranty. I still have the original seat in my basement with the broken bolster. I took it to a fabrication shop but they said they couldn't do it... If you really want the broken part I could rip apart the seat and get it to you. An aluminium part would be stronger but you couldn't staple the fabric to it like the plastic piece.
