Guest, we are pleased to announce that Hydrophase Ridesteady is offering an extra $100 off for JETBOATERS.NET members on any Ridesteady for Yamaha Speed Control system purchased through March 7th, 2025. Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines.
Hey all. I have a RIB with a Mercury 120 XR2 sport jet. Can I tow it after my big boat? I know that some boats require you to shut off the cooling water flow and prevent the engine from spinning.
Hej
You will want to clamp off the water line from the jet pump intake or add a shut off valve to it. I just have a set of hose clamps in my boat for this situation.
So I did on my jet ski, but found no info about it on the specific Mercury sportjet. in the instruction manual it says that you should flush the engine via this hose after driving in salt water, this is done with the engine turned off. If it can be flushed with the engine switched off, maybe it should be possible to tow it?

It is a fairly coarse and stiff hose, and difficult to reach. So I can not squeeze it. then there is a lack of space to mount a valve, which is why I am looking for someone who actually knows what applies to this engine.
