We boat around Sandusky and Cedar Point often, but have not overnighted there with the boat. Sandusky is a great boating destination, and when coupled with cedar point makes for a great experience. Definitely check out the bay point sandbar which is west across the inlet from cedar point. Great place to spend a day. Many people also anchor right off the north coast of cedar point, they have live music all day, and you can swim in to their beach bar, volleyball, etc. If it’s calm, Kelley’s island and put-in-bay are within reach, if not, Sandusky bay and east harbor leave plenty to explore.
As far as Cedar Point properties, which would get you discount or free park tickets, I have stayed in the cabins on lighthouse point. They are nice for families, I suppose you could park the boat at the cedar point marina, which is within walking distance. Cedar Point also owns castaway bay, which is not out on the point, but near by. They have a marina on site as well.
As for launch ramps, the Shelby street marina is centrally located, free, lots of ramps and spots, and very nice.
Let us know if you’re out this way this summer and I’ll look for you on the sandbar!
