After 17 years, I'm completely clueless on what to get my wife this year. Any ideas out there? What are you doing/buying?

Updating the wife's ring this year, she picked out a 1.8ct center stone and design a new band. It has been 16 years for us with the same ring.

Always have the couples spa day gift cards.

Jewelry always works and plugs don't get hugs. My wife and I decided to get back into triathlon shape after slacking off the last couple of years so I got her what she mentioned she wanted which is mostly stuff related to that endeavor including a fitness smartwatch but I would not recommend buying practical workout stuff for your wife to most ;)

I do however have a unique Valentines idea which is right around the corner as well. Years ago I got a dozen different bottles of wine that were not on our everyday list and arranged them in a wicker basket. Now that is what she gets each year and she loves it even though it is no longer a surprise. In fact if I ever replaced that with flowers as a surprise she might actually be disappointed. The first year I did that she posted it on social media and told all of her friends about it. I got ribbed my some of my wives friends husbands for making them look bad.

Tickets to the next boat show.
Tickets to see a movie.
Gift certificate to her favorite resteraunt.
A hotel for a night away from the kids.
Heck, combine all of the above!

Spa/massage days are always welcomed by my wife, anything handmade from pallets etc around the house like a wine holder, spice rack etc. We also do an IOU book each year with 10 different things like one of hers to me is IOU one day on the boat even if I want to stay in. One of mine to her was a day out to garage sales, flea market etc.(she loves walking through and finding deals and I'm not big into walking around shopping all day). We stopped trying to spend tons of money for things not really needed and do little things like that. Homemade and something to show I'm thinking of her is always the winner though

I'm going to rewrap the gift that I gave her last year that has been sitting in the exact same spot since Christmas Day last year unopened....and it was exactly what she said she wanted:-/

We don't get each other much, I'm very practical, I want new floor mats for my truck and a new sewer hose for the camper, she says those aren't good presents....it is for me, that's what I need/want!

As mentioned Jewelry always works even though I hate buying it as it seems the excitement level is high at first but usually dwindles off and it winds up in the Jewelry box with everything else never to be seen again lol. Something that has worked well in the past for me is buy concert tickets for the two of you to her favorite band or artist especially if its one your not a big fan of as it shows that you are truly willing to do something selfless just for her. Example my better half loves Billy Joel and I'm a take him or leave him guy so I bought tickets to an out of town concert so that means she actually got a weekend get away and concert as a gift she loved it. Another Idea is book a family photo shoot with a pro women seem to love that stuff even though as guys we hate it but these are outside the box gifts if your looking for something truly different she would never expect.

Find a concert for a band she likes. Buy your ticket at Ticketmaster or Stubhub. Throw in a hotel stay if she's been good this year. 20 minutes of browser work ... no crowds to deal with.

You are back on this forum plotting your next mods in a 1/2 hour max.

Bought mine:
  • 2 Amazon Echo Dots (she loves the echo and wants it in other rooms)
  • cooking classes (she loves to cook)
  • tickets to 3 shows at the Broadway theatre
  • Some smaller cooking items she asked for....
Looked at concerts...but man they've gotten expensive!

A Coach purse and wallet, pjs of her choice, and various kitchen gadgets she had her eye on at William Sonoma, along with the new kitchen clock she commented about. But you could have her car detailed, get a housekeeping service (cheaper than two concert tickets and keeps on giving all year long!).

@Ilmmct You are my HERO!

Done. Got two tickets to Eric Church in May (over $400  and almost sold out :joyful:). He is a country music singer (which is good to know if you are like me, LOL).

@Ilmmct Sir, I owe you a drink (or two) when we meet!

iPhone 7 with 128 GB and all the fixings (i.e., cover and screen protector, matching ear buds, lighted charging cable, dual USB charger and lightning to 3.5mm adaptor). Plus a few other smaller gifts that she can open at the other locations we are celebrating Christmas at.

My wife told me not to buy her anything.... so I didn't. But years past I've gotten her a 6 month membership to get massages

Thanks for the help gentlemen. She's a tough one to buy for. A few years back for Mother's Day, I bought her a really nice powered mop. Since our floors are mostly hardwoods, I thought she would appreciate the time and energy it would save her vs. the manual mopping she was doing up to that point. Let's just say it didn't go over as well as I intended it too. My only response was "well if you bought me a new zero turn I would be tickled pink". She didn't find that amusing either. ;)

@swatski glad to hear one of my posts finally departed some valuable knowledge on this forum! I can't turn a wrench without getting bloody knuckles, but I know how to keep up with my woman maintenance requirements ...

@Ilmmct Man, those Tickemaster tickets turned out to be - no kidding - probably the best Xmas gift ever! I hate gift shopping, and always, always leave it until the last moment, then just buy some BS jewelry, typical...
This time - it was one of those "priceless" moments. After opening a big box, containing few smaller and smaller boxes inside (which is my usual nonsense)... she expected the usual. But then..., she found an envelope, with a card (where inside I glued-in the ticket stubs that I printed out). She looked inside the card - AND HER EYES JUST LIT UP!!!

"Eric Church...! I love Eric Church!", she screamed.

Total winner, I tell you. I wish I took a picture, LOL. Bless your heart @Ilmmct!
