Do we have any members that are or have been part of the Coast Guard Auxillary? I am thinking of joining so I can serve my local community. Even after 10 years in the Army, I feel the need to serve...

Yup - in NJ - for local area flotillas, visit the national website here http://www.cgaux.org/

you should be able to find a local flotilla by putting in your zip code. Each flotilla/division has its own "culture" It may be good for you to visit a few, and get a feel for the members in each before deciding which one to join.
