I just wanted to confirm that the JBP Lateral Thrusters will NOT fit Cobra Magnum AK with Mega Fangs. The Lateral thruster will not fit because of the fangs.

It would fit if you did not have the fangs and got new bolts, etc. However, as per @JetBoatPilot this would void your warranty on the Lateral Thrusters.

Nope you are not supposed to use those with the fangs you use the lateral thruster in place of the fangs they are compatible with the magnum A K steering system the mega fangs are an upgrade to the steering just like the lateral thruster is an up grade to the thrust vectors and why I suggested also trying the mega fangs with the thrust vectors obviously in place of the lateral thrusters. Hope this clarifies things

You install those on your nozzles exactly how you did it the first time using all the bolts and hardware from the manufacturer exactly the same as before the only difference is the steering and the extra tie rod so you have my steering on the nozzle rather that the others.

I understand he is not a mechanic and I have always encouraged him and all my customers to call me at home as he did several times previously if there was a question.
Obviously there was confused about the parts in question .
The magnum a k steering system by itself is compatible with the side thruster so a person can make a decision as to what upgrade they wish to use with no modifications to either system required.
The mega fangs are a separate system upgrade and obviously they use the bottom bolt of the nozzle so one would not be able to use those and the side thrusters together .
Customers can however choose what one of those systems they wish to add to their system .
likewise on the thrust vector xv steering, if the customer wished to use mega fangs with those then yes they can but obviously not if the side thruster was in play .
And yes I am also having special side force stabilizers built that do not use the bottom nozzle bolt so if a customer with my Ultimate steering wished to comingle the side thruster with my steering they certainly will be able to do that if they swap out the side force stabilizers to accommodate this.
And as I said before both the mega fangs and the side thruster offer different features and at different prices but it is the choice of the customer.
Also my parts have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee so what others do is up to them and of course regulated by the federal trade commission.
I have nothing to do with that side of things. However I certainly appreciate @fobars' efforts in all this video stuff and I am sure there it is a lot of work involved for him and no doubt it can get confusing at times, but it appears he likes doing it. I just wish in this instance he would have called me first so that I could clarify things so as to avoid any problem.

Actually ... I was a mechanic for about a decade.

I had the whole system off today anyway to get a stick out of the impeller housing. When I put everything back I just did some dry fits to see if they would fit. I see how it could fit without the fangs.

Side note ... I had to take some material off the fang on the port side. (The cut out for the tie rod.) There was metal on metal between the tie rod and the inner fang. This was with the port tie rod on top. The rubbing would change to starboard if I put the starboard tie rod on top. I had to take off about 1.5mm. I'd suggest increasing the diameter of that cut about 2mm on top.

I think it would be better to leave the fangs on as they help turning the magnums as they are always down. I can emulate the lateral thrusters to a degree with the twin engines.

Ok thanks , Was the contact you are referencing on top or bottom of the cutout and was the base plate secured with the locking tabs tightly in place? Also did you notice this prior to removing the parts or only after ?

Also when you installed the tie rods there were a couple of extra flat washers left over. I send more than you need actually since you already have some on the original tie rod, if you need to adjust the position of the tie rods you can add or delete one washer to achieve the desired position to clear the opening but the base must be secured first with the locking tabs tight if it is just hanging loose it will not be in the proper position . As for this statement " I think it would be better to leave the fangs on as they help turning the magnums as they are always down. I can emulate the lateral thrusters to a degree with the twin engines."
Is it safe to assume you now understand the power steering effect of the mega fangs? Just asking because in your video you said you did not see it and obviously it is important to me to clarify this point. Also please understand I have been out in the sun on the water all day and I am doing my best to concentrate but I'm whipped it sucks to get old!

Top of the cutout. Everything was locked in place.

Also ... the fangs are mounted on the bottom of the force stabilizer.

yes they are and the locking tabs lock into the side of the nozzle so when you tighten the hex bolt it draws the base up tight to the nozzle and that lifts the base up this is why I asked if it was tight to the nozzle or hanging down . When the base is not pulled up tight the rod will touch . I have also had a few people put the locking tabs under the nozzle rather than into the side of it and this will allow the tie rod to touch also

I will double check it the next time I work on the boat.

ok good because that is what it sounds like or you would have had the same problem previously

After reading this I checked my tie rods for clearance. When I turn to port the tie rod taps the top of the cut out as it goes in then stops against the front of the cut out when turned all the way. I'm not sure if this is stopping the nozzle from turning all the way or not. It seems to turn about the same distance when going to starboard but it doesn't hit.

ok that helps can you show me a close up of where the tie rod attaches to the nozzle

Jeff, here is a video about the metal-on-metal issue. It is an unlisted video, so you cannot search for it on YouTube.
