Cobra Jet on 2021 212XD question

Just placed an order for the 2021 212XD and checking to see if the Cobra Jet steering would be worth it with the DRIVE system. This is our first boat so I am looking to have the best steering possible with this type of boat.

I know the DRIVE system helps in low speed docking situations so hoping the cobra Jet will make it that much better.

Congrats, that's an awesome boat! CJS might still be worth it. From looking at the DRIVE system - it seems to be just a paddle shifter on the right that makes both engines go forward at low speed, and one on the left that does the same in reverse. So this is making it a lot easier from the sense that you're not grabbing both throttles and moving them back and forth. But they haven't improved anything I can see with low speed steering - the actual jets, that would make it steer better. It's still 2 jets, with just 1 small rudder (articulating keel) in the middle. So if you go with the newer CJS system that I put on my 2020 AR210, you'll get 2 extra fins hanging down in the water on each jet - that's a total of 4 extra fins helping out at low speed turning. Our boats are amazing but let's face it - they suck compared to props at low speed docking/loading - so with a new boat you'll want all the help you can get!

Congrats Brad, I think you made the right decision. Here's my install video if it helps you. Only thing I don't show very well in the video is how to properly create the slight tow-in of the fins - just remember that's important. (installation video)

One important thing to remember I no longer use small flat washers on the little button cap bolts for the fin settings so only use the bolt and the nylock nut do not add any washers .
