Don't recall seeing this on here, and didn't have time/forgot to poke around yesterday....but how do you get the connext screen to show the gas gauge while in float mode?

I was filling up the boat yesterday at the dock, and my wife was in the boat. The gas pump stopped and I knew it would take a lot more, but asked my wife...what is the gas level at....she pressed every button on the screen and couldn't get it to show....

I know someone here will know this one!

Good question. On non x series boats just bump the starter real quick without starting the engine. On you boat well perhaps one of the screen buttons will get you there. If not I think I remember seeing resistance values on the sys control page that you have to hold to get to. Perhaps remember/annotate what the values are for 50,60,70,80,90, and 100 percent. Or just start one engine.

I just turn the key one click and it shows up.

No key to turn on the E-Series boat....you have push button starts....so the only option would be to start the engine while filling up with gas....not a good idea.

@Julian - You bring up a good point. I wonder if artificially supplying +12vdc to spu pin 2-22 using a switch would cause connext to come out of float mode and not trip off error messages? Worth a try anyway if nothing else built in works.

Anyone ever figure out a solution for this, seems ridiculous you have to start the engine or at least bump the starter just to read the fuel level but its the only way I've been able to get it to show up. Has to be a design oversight, can't imagine in a design meeting some piped up and said "no one will want to see how much fuel is in the boat when its not running - kill the fuel gauge unless the engines are running"

More likley someone said lets show different screens when the engines are not running and did not think about the fuel guage thing. The fuel sending unit connects to the port tach which sends data to the starboard tach which sends data to the connext mfd. Something has to trigger the display to change so my guess is that it is the engine on wires do that given they are fed into the SPU. I have not tested this and don’t when I might even remember to do so.

I can also say that there is a lag between when the tank is full from fueling up and when it says 100%.

Thanks - maybe I'll experiment a little when I get a chance, bumping the starter isn't the worst thing in the world. I know the SPU wiring is harness is labeled but it there a pin out diagram somewhere, I have the service manual but have yet to local anything technical on the SPU. Am I just missing it or is it not in there?

Turn the key off, then back on. I'm not with my boat right now so I can't confirm, but I think when you initially turn the key on the blowers come on and fuel should be displayed on the Connext screen.

Then you get the ridiculous long annoying beep (unless you've done the @Mainah mod to shut that thing up!)....which reminds me I owe him photos!!!

How about starting engines and pull the kill switch with the ignition key still on?

Don't need to do all that.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, all you need to do is just bump the starter on one of the motors for split second, don't need to start the boat up. Not the end of the world but still a very strange design decision or oversight by Yamaha.
