Has anyone had any issues with the cup holder attached to the head compartment in front of the passenger seat on a 242? My brother used is as a "oh Shit handle" on a big bump...and the screws didn't hold. It definitely was not built to be used as a handle. The small screws just pulled through the plastic. I am debating on some good 3m glue to hold it down, or putting some decorative washers under the screws, or probably both,,, have not decided yet. Any ideas? I think a new one will just get pulled off again if someone grabs it as a handle.

Mine is still intact, I guess I didn't even realize it was a separate piece.

Someone grabbed mine as a hand hold and I told them to use the handle grip by their leg :) They would of torn it right off. Just plastic and when you tug on it it moves and flexes with little pressure. Someone holding their weight when going through a tight turn would pull it right off. I make sure to tell anyone sitting in that seat to use the silver hand grip :)

Yes,, it pulls right off... Over 150 bucks for a new one, that will also rip right off if used as a handle.

Pics?

I don't have access to my actual boat right now. Here is a pic I found on the web that shows the cup holder that I am talking about. There are small screws around the outside of it that hold it in place. When pulled on the screws just pull right through the plastic.

Yep, I'm making cupholder rings for LED's, those two are going to be difficult as they form the cupholder and there isn't much room to add a ring, yet they will be the most prominent rings in the boat.

Here is another pic.

I see. Definitely don't want a 'reveal' on those rings

Has anyone found a good way to repair / reinstall this piece? Mine was hanging on by a few screws last year, now barely by one!
