So, in all my excitement in outfitting the new boat (2011 SX 210), I ordered stainless cupholders that are apparently the wrong size.

I got these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0097MF4DU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The inside dimensions appear to be the same as the stock cupholders, but the hole in the boat is just a smidge too large. If I peel the leftover silicon off of the hole, the new cupholders are going to slide all over the place inside the hole. I don't think they would actually drop through, though.

Did I get the right thing? I'm pretty sure I followed a link from someone's post... but I could have gotten to a different product while browsing Amazon.

Thanks!

You should be able to use clear silicone and it will hold them in place....

I have mine siliconed down as well. I figured that was standard proceedure?

Well, I can do that... it just feels like there's even more leeway than that, though. If I peel off the existing silicon and push the cup holder to one side, then I can see a good bit of daylight between the opposite lip of the cupholder and the hole in the boat. I'm going to go back out in a minute and measure and take a couple pics (if it's not too dark).

I took some blue painters tape and put it inside the cup holder, wrapping it right below the rim. I added as much tape as it took to make each of these snug and I've never had an issue. Just a thought, I didn't use the silicone as I didn't want them in there that (semi) permanently. @BigAbe75

Ah... I like that. At least could snug them up a bit, before the silicon. I did find another cupholder that appears to have 1/8" wider overall diameter. But, the cost is so much more I don't really want to do that. I'm tempted to get 1 just to see, but I may try this route, first. Thanks!!

Did the same thing with mine but used electrical tape instead. It's more expensive than painters tape but holds up to water better. I'm a mechanic and use electrical tape in place of medical tape when I cut myself, will last all day through washing hands and whatnot.

Thanks for the ideas! A few wraps of electrical tape is going to be perfect.

I have the same on my sx230. I put sealant to take up the slack. No cleaning or scraping, just a bead (less than 1/8in) under the lip, wiped excess as soon as I set them in and no issues at all.

any pics?

Click on the google doc link in my signature, I’ve got a few pics of my finished projects. But, now that I think about it... there might not be any good ones of the straight out replacement cup holders.

I ended up just wrapping the cup holders with electrical tape till they felt snug in the existing holes.
