Anyone else see the windlass mod Cycle Springs (Dealer in FL) on a Yamaha 275?

Wonder if the feedback here is the same as it was on FB....FB_IMG_1605969791256.jpgFB_IMG_1605969805473.jpgFB_IMG_1605969809627.jpg

You know i always thought a windlass would be great on the 275 but now that i see it hanging off the front of the boat like that, i think ill pass. If the anchor pulled in tight to the hull then i would like it but sticking out the front like that it looks like an after thought

So, what will that mod cost a 275 owner? That one does look out of place. Hangs too low to the water. First thoughts are of a ramming arm. It is about as inconspicuous as my homemade anchor roller on the Beneteau. I love our windlass now after hand hauling a 22# anchor, with chain and mud/grass attached. Sometimes they are after thoughts and the design shows. Mine works well and I do have a design change for rev. 2, shortening 2". I wanted the anchor shackle to land on the S.S., not the gelcoat. And to not get hung on the forestay hardware. Not too many Beneteau First 35s5's with a windlass and anchor roller installed around the World. They were not designed to mount one. You can see the previous owners attempts at hanging an anchor from the "factory roller/stem head fitting" resulted in some big, unsightly gelcoat repairs on the bow. I designed it for function over form. Sorry, I digress.

Too close to the water and in choppy seas would encourage water over the bow. It may even catch and pull the bow under. No thanks.

Id rather it be mounted snd extended out the top vs cut through hole

Way too low. I’ve pondered how to add one to the 242, but would have it come out straight from the hatch. Beyond my skill level, for sure.

That is horrible placement in my opinion.

Nono you got this all wrong. The idea is to be like a leading edge for the bow. You know helps when crossing to Bimini rough water and you need something to help with submarining

With cycle springs doing it - itll prob fall off or create a leak in your boat.

Make a fiberglass bow pulpit and install it properly.
I had been dreaming up a replacement of the anchor locker door with a windlass built into that as a modular piece.
