Bought the boat with a couple error. Replaced and old generator battery with a nice AGM (thanks jetboaters.net) and for 3 wks and 12+ hours no issue.

Take the AR192 our yesterday and 30 mins into my ride I restart after a swim and it’s back. Sooo frustrating as I thought I outsmarted it!

Anything I should check before chasing a speedo or transducer? Any order to of these 2 items to replace?

Thanks so much jet friends ??

I would look at all the connections related to your replacement of the battery. If you had no errors and then they returned after 12 hrs of use, it could be as simple as the battery wires and or connections have loosened enough to get the error to return. Look for any corrossion on the battery wires and connectors. I would probably go ahead and use some light sandpaper and scuff up all connectors. Hopefully it is that simple. :winkingthumbsup"

The positive connector was pretty bad when purchased. I cleaned it as best i could prior to battery install but wonder if it’s worth a snip and starting fresh - Remove another variable! Great suggestion

-Replaced cable
-bought a noco maintainer and plugged in overnight (said it was full after only 30 mins but let it go all night.
-Even reset connections under the dash.

no dice- I’m at a loss and just bummed it worked for 6+ outings before failing again!

I do have a mess behind the gauges. Anyone know if the transponder is stock or was added after? What about the terminators on the gps plug as well as the speedo gauge?
Looks like a splice in the loop as well - I could remove to try and help.

@osuart Okay most alarms require a preset number of "clean" restarts before they reset and clear. I'm sure one of the folks on here will have the # but I think it is at least 3 clean restarts before the code clears...SO lets keep a positive attitude until then. :winkingthumbsup"

That’s good to know- maybe I try it again this week before I order a replacement part!

Have been out on the boat several times with several restarts each trip and still getting the error. If i give up and but a new part how can i determine if its speedo or transducer? Prefer to replace one and not both if possible... TIA

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a couple of days and seeing if that does a reset? I've read that in some cases that will clear codes.

My intermittent GPS ERR is almost certainly coming from a bad connection behind the helm. I diagnosed this by having my wife drive the boat while I was messing with the wiring behind the helm, and sure enough, the port tach connections are the culprit....now to figure out where exactly, and how to fix!

No movement on speedo after startup calibration. I can run the test and the gauges sweep etc.

Tach works fine, no issue when error occurs.

When error comes on I also loose depth, water temp etc.

Disconnected battery completely and will connect prior to tomorrow’s adventures.

Everything else works great so just a bummer....

i have the same issue on a 2017 AR195 i just purchased ( 111 hours, everything looks new/clean, spent $$ on pre-purchase full inspection and of course the issue didn't happen until a couple of outings after purchase ) I've replaced to a new battery, cleaned/tightened all connections. Initially it was intermittent now it seems consistent, I loose depth, etc. and the speedo sweeps back/forth I'm gonna ask the repair shop I spent $$ on the full inspection to have a look, I'll share anything I learn here. also trying some dielectric grease on the battery connections

Might be a faulty gauge.

Good luck. Maybe worth taking the gauge apart and put it back together before spending the money. Mine was covered under warranty.

FYI - ordered from partzilla, super helpful and they price match. Ended up paying only $400... trying the transducer first and will go from there. Luckily i needed a new battery and the cable replacement was worth it for $10. Will be a happy family if we get these features back for our trips out this weekend. Will report back results

Do you have the tach issue or is it the speed/depth/temp? One thing i did notice behind the dash on mine was a OEM splice that looked a bit suspect. Could have done better myself!

Mine is currently just a GPS ERR problem. Dealer replaced the GPS puck....didn't fix it. Now I know its just a bad connection....still need to get behind the helm and find it....but I've isolated it down to the port tack. Likely the Orange wire bus connection.

Fixed it- Tranducer to the rescue!

osuart ok so just to confirm you fully replaced the transducer and that fixed the depth, temp, etc?

where you also getting the "N2K Comm Error" ( alternating with "Speed Comm Error" ) ?

I get the "N2K Comm Error" ( alternating with "Speed Comm Error" ) same as shown in this related post:

I've tried replacing things as suggested in these posts, starting with the least expensive things first:

  • fully cleaned/checked all battery connections including adding dielectric grease
  • replaced the speedometer ( since the above post cited fixed by "replac[ing] port side gauge" and my speedometer just sweeps back and forth while, except for the LCD comm issue, the tachometer works fine) (partzilla $233)
  • replaced the tachometer (partzilla $350)
  • seems the real fix must be the transducer then ( partzilla $514 )
