Hey guys, I have a question regarding the speedometer and the tachometer on a 2012 SX190 (although it probably is the same for most newer years and versions). My gauges no longer light up anymore and I'm pretty sure they use to be on all the time even though during the day you probably don't notice it. The gauges are working just fine, minus the lack of a back light, and the small info screen that displays gas, mpg, battery voltage etc. works just fine and does light up so I'm not sure what would have caused it.

Has anyone experienced this issue or would know how to fix it? I looked at all the wires that go into them and plugged them in and out but still no fix. Can the light bulbs even be replaced?

Thanks,

I have not opened up a gauge on the boat, however I have opened many car gauge clusters. Most have a small incandescent bulb which is easily replaced with a similar size LED bulb. LEDs offer a greater service life and they can be customized with different colors as well as being inherently brighter to begin with.

I'm assuming that since both went out at the same time that there would be a loose wire or faulty fuse?

So just an update, I found that there is actually a menu for back lighting brightness after reading the manual (who does that), and was able to get the lights to turn on when I'm accessing the menu.

I am still having an issue with keeping them on though, the lights will turn on when in the settings, but after 8 or so seconds, the menu auto backs out and the lights go off again. Is there a setting or button I'm missing that tells the boat when to turn the dash lights on? I assume they are always on, or is it only when the courtesy light switch or nav/anchor light switches are on?
