Hey Guys, got a mount so I can put an old phone on the dash and run charts, music, GoPro remote, etc.

Need to mount it to the dash (two bolts and a plate behind the dash to secure).

Ideally I would like to drill holes and place the mount somewhere on the shiny black surrounding the cockpit. But they will be the first holes I put in the boat so I am super cautious. I took a look but wasn’t confident, what is this material? Is it fibreglass with a gel coat? Or is it plastic?

Any tips for drilling these holes? Should I be cautious about overtightening and cracking this finish?99292

Hey All, did the drilling and was going to remove this thread, but cant figure out how, so I thought I'd answer my own question here so that it adds to the vast base of searchable knowledge on the forum!

It's fiberglass and gel coat, at least as far as I can tell. The surround around the gauges does seem to be some type of plastic though.
