So who has a deposit on a 2021 Yamaha jet boat and is still patiently waiting?
Location, Florida.

I am been over a month now. Charleston south Carolina

Have either of you got any kind of info from your dealer? Mine seems to be in the dark. I would think they could call a rep or someone and get any kind of update.

Our dealer says, “they should have more details on release date on the 12th”. I don’t know about you guys, but Yamaha needs to sell their own boats. I totally dislike this Middleman transaction. Seems like I know more information then my own salesman and I’m sure he’s getting a nice commission.

But isn't that considered the normal release. I was under the impression prerelease meant before they come out officially. Anyways. I actually called Yamaha a couple weeks ago and was told no boats were shipped til mid August when the new line comes out. But I keep seeing other people have already got their boats. It is confusing.

I agree with hating the middle man. When I first decided I wanted to buy one I went to the website thinking I could order one and have it shipped to me. But that is not the case. Also the first dealer Yamaha site gave me did not even sell Yamaha boats.

everyone is waiting. no info. just waiting

Deposit on a 275sd. I cant complain though since i just did it a few days ago. Dealer already had the boat built and im told its sitting there just waiting for a few key items that they are having a hard time getting in normal quantities from vendors due to this virus. Mainly the windshield. Its due in sept sometime. Hopefully i get it in time to het atleast a week or two on the water before the season ends

So far I have seen on the water 2021 195s and a 2021 212 today in lake St. Clair. Thursday I walked through a just delivered to the dealer 2021 212s, very sharp boat. Same dealer indicated he delivered to customers 2 195's the day before. So they are flowing a bit here. Not sure how much though. Pics are in another thread.

I just got word that my 2021 212s will get to the dealer on Tuesday. It was one of the pre order boats that they didn’t know they were getting until yesterday. Up until they called I was being told that yamaha won’t release any info until the 12th. I just got lucky.

You’re the first 275 I’m aware of. Post tons of pics. How many 275 owners are on here?

When I put my deposit down I was not aware nor told of a pre release. Just ok well call you when it comes in. This was also maybe a Just month ago.

I was not either. My dealer told me they didn't even know if I was getting a 2020 or a 2021. Then I called them a couple weeks later and was told it was a prerelease 2021. I ordered a sx195.

will do. Now i am just playing the waiting game. Hopefully the boat doesnt come in late like end of oct or something. In that case the dealer will store it for the winter and i wont pick it up until late march. Really want to get a couple weeks on it though to get it broken in and give a shake down so the dealer can work on any issues over the winter. I ended up with the black cherry model. This is the first 275 with the warm interior. I have never seen that in person.

Ordered my AR195 in Black a month ago from Specialty Marine in CDA Idaho....man i hope it gets in soon but they say they are still in the dark about actual delivery date...

I certainly know nothing on this topic... but just applying some logic:

My assumption is that Yamaha production shut down early this year. They had some semi-finished hulls, engines, components, etc sitting in inventory when this happened.

A few months ago, they were able to restart production - likely on a limited scale - and decided to slap some new color schemes (and a stainless drain plug) on these boats and call them ‘early release’ 2021 models. A relative few 19 footers and even fewer 21 footers.

I’m sure a lot of the members here have considered this.

Thinking further... the fact that no 24’s or 27’s came out as ‘early release’ could mean there are significant design changes coming for the larger boats. Then again, it could just be that when production restarted, it was limited... not all lines restarted... and they pulled forward the more affordable models to hook the first-time boat buyers, for whom the late summer feeding frenzy continues.

We shall see.

I'm sure that is what has happened. And I hope they are being safe and no one gets sick. I am not mad or angry. I understand why it is taking time. I am annoyed that this dealer does not have any info. It seems like it would be easy enough for Yamaha to tell them " this boat is designated for you to be delivered on this date". Or we don't have parts so we don't know. Or anything along those lines. And maybe it is just the dealer I am using.

I’m pretty sure all the dealers are in the same situation. The dealer here wasn’t given any info and even didn’t know about the pre-release boats until it was announced.

It seems that way. At first my dealer couldn't tell me colors or year model. Just that they were given the opportunity to order a few 19 or 21 foot boats.
