Here's the story...

The street parking is terrible around the south bay/beach area during summer. I have soooo much "stuff" in my garage that I can only park one vehicle in there - at the moment, I'll get around to cleaning that up, I swear!

So when we need to run to the market or any other errand we have to take a vehicle and typically the one we take is "Hers" because A - it's easy to load can hold more stuff, B - it gets better gas mileage, C - I plain just don't want to take mine (long story).

So we tend to have parking issues when we get back. So I came up with a great idea (at least it was at the time).

ELECTRIC SCOOTERS!

I got a deal on two of these neat little scooters - they have a range of around 10 miles on a single charge, can go 15- 20 mph depending on how many tacos I had for dinner and have a big ol' basket on the back for a few bags of groceries.

They were delivered yesterday and I got right to assembling them so I could charge them up and go riding. It said a 12 hour charge was necessary the first time around - yeah, right. I did a quick charge and then had a drag race with my daughter (just to make sure they were working correctly you understand). Then I put them back on charge. My wife seemed excited at first, but was a little awkward riding it - wasn't like her Honda 250 at all she said. Um, well, no honey, it's a scooter.

Now for the mods....I want to install a keyed switch to replace the simple on/off switch it has. That way I don't have to worry about it getting hijacked by the grandkids when we go over to visit. It will also need lights, a horn or bell, mirror, lock and a drink holder. Then I'm off to cruise to the beach and not care about parking!

How about an electric golf cart? I have a 48V, big ass motor, and hi amp controller, I can pull a 12" trucked tree with the thing! Have a bed on the back instead of golf rack. But it steers for shit, only will go about 5 miles on a charge, and only does about 13mph. I don't have lights/horn/mirror...but I got 8 tee holders, a score card clip, a 5 ball holder, two shelves, and two drink holders! So there! lol But you could park 2 scooters in the space I would need. It is lifted with balloon all terrain tires however!

Mel,
I've got my eye on a sweet golf cart, but I'm holding off until we decide between Palm Springs and Palm Desert!

Besides, I can't drive around here in a golf cart, but there are scooters all over the place. One guy in my neighborhood has one that is a rocket. I think he has a 1000 watt motor on that thing. I stared in disbelief while a cop was sitting in his car right where the bike path crosses my street, this guy blasts through the stop sign and I think maybe the cop yawned and looked the other way.

Doesn't exist without pictures @Glassman.....lol

When I see that I think DUI.....:p

I know different parts of the country but couldn't resist.

Now those are cool! If only I had an urban vista to roam around...alas, too far between out here on the ponderosa!

Electric Scooters are like Fat Chicks, both are fun to ride until your friends see you on them :winkingthumbsup"

OK Dan, YOU park your 'Vette down in the crowded beach parking lot and see how that works out for you.

Maybe, never thought about that - I don't drink, so that's never an issue - and this keeps me from being the DD 'cause there's only one seat!

Too funny. I am sure that will be an excellent mode of transportation and you are right no need to worry about a parking spot.

Basically got them to solve the parking and gas issues....one of our daughters lives a few blocks away and we are constantly going back and forth - this makes it easier.
The other thing I thought was neat - no special license required, no registration, no gas, no insurance (covered by Homeowner's).

I'm pretty sure that the grandkids will eventually wrangle them away from us and I'll either plate my dirt bike or get a new dual sport. But for now they'll do the trick.

ROFLMAO...you guys crack me up...oh wait! It was the earth quack! lol
