Drain plugs - 2016 FSH 190

Hi everyone, hoping to tap into the collective wisdom here. I bought a 2016 FSH 190 about 2 months ago and slowly figuring it out. I’ve read the Owner’s Manual, I have the Service Manual, and tried to research, but still have some questions about the inside drain plugs.

There are 3 plugs in the attached pics: #1 is the engine compartment, and #2 and #3 are in the ‘head’ area (storage area behind the helm). Questions are:

Q1 - When you’re running the boat do you keep all 3 plugs closed?
The previous owner told me to keep #3 closed but #2 open, obviously keep #1 closed. Is that correct?

Q2 - What’s the difference between #2 and [HASH=3560]#3?[/HASH]

Q3 - Where do all these drain to?
I assume there’s an area under the boat and engine compartment, and on top of the haul. I also assume this area drains to the 2 rear drain plugs but wanted to check.

1 should be left open. That will drain any water from the front of the boat back to the bilge. 2 and 3 should remain closed. Only time I ever open those was if I had standing water in the changing room. Unfortunately when thg he boat sits on the trailer the bow area of the boat always sits lower than the stern. Therefore if you leave those two plugs open water will back up in the changing room. In order to really drain all the water from the front of the hull is to jack the boat up as high as you can get it , to allow the water to run all the way back. Yamaha did a very poor job in respect to hull drainage.

Thank you for that information. That makes sense now and I was wondering how water outside of the engine compartment got to the bilge pump. I'll make those adjustments next trip out. Thanks again for your help

If anyone knows the diff between 2 and 3 in the pics appreciate the info. I'm now assuming they're from different compartments in the hull? Maybe 3 is the area where the fuel tank is at.

Both drain to the same area. Had it not been for the pad only one drain would have been needed. For the life of me I don't know why they just didn't extend that pad forward and just have one drain toward the back?
