‘18 242x, I had a brief engine overheat alarm on the hose due to a garden hose kink. Shut engine off immediately. Now I have a persistent Port Engine alert, along with the alarm sound that I cannot turn off. To complicate matters, my starting battery was dying at the time and registering only 11v, so I’m sure Connext wasn’t happy with that.

Engine starts and runs perfectly but alert and alarm will not stop despite disconnecting batteries.

Any DIY advice?

Thanks

Mark

Charge the battery. All kind of weird stuff happens at low voltage

Sorry, didn’t mention that I did that! Two brand new batteries fully charged.
You might just need to clear the code, by leaving the battery disconnected for 30 minutes or so. @Julian has a 242 as well and is well versed in the boats

There is an alarm mute button on bottom left hand side of connext screen. Looks like a circle with parentheses around it. It will mute for 5 or 10 mins.

I had a brief overheat error first year I got my ‘18 242 (sucked a plastic cup up) and called the dealer. They said engine error should go away after running for a bit provided the issue does not persist. It did. I think it took running for 10 mins or so. Maybe to charge battery up. Not sure.

I've never been able to try this, but someone posted a while back that if you start and stop the boat (if I recall) 5 times, it will clear the alarm. Its worth a try!

Is it possible to add this 5 start reset process to the FAQ section. I searched everywhere for this info last year and came up empty. After starting and stopping the boat on the hose while searching for issues a few times my alarm stopped, so I crossed my fingers and moved on. Now I know why it stopped.
