bought the boat new and Yamaha took me for a test ride. Boat never saw water before. Test ride was only 15-20 mins. Used all throttle to test boat but never anything longer than a minute in any RPM.

So I asked if that's how I can break the boat in and was told yeah. Just don't hold RPMs longer than a couple mins. Best to use all RPMs to break in good.

Went to lake and rode for an hour doing so. A minute in 1 rpm, another at 2, another at 3 and so forth to full throttle. Never holding RPMs longer than a min or so.

Went home and read the Manual haha and this is nothing like that. Called Yamaha and they said I'll be fine doing what I'm doing.

Question is... Am I really ok?

You'll be fine. You don't want unloaded high rpms. That's what you get when the boat gets up to speed...low load and high rpm. I would continue to use higher rpms for short bursts and keep it mainly in the low ranges. That loads the rings for a good seat at the cylinder walls.

It's controversial but I broke all my motorcycle engines in using this method and they always ran strong.
