engine fault 2005

I have a 2005 sx230 just purchased after ten min. or so the engine fault light came on it blinks 2-4 or 4-2 I cleaned the boat and put gas in .could I have hit a sensor? boat runs fine. thanks

A 2-4 is an incorrect cam position sensor....

So the next question is...where is the plug for the cam position sensor, and did you get it wet and caused it to mis-read?
