Hey guys me and and my buddy just picked up a 07 sx230 for dirt cheap but have to put a motor in it I have looked all over and can't seem to figure out which one to get mine is a 07 ho don't have the boat on hand yet getting it tomorrow . Don't see anything on sbt website for a 07 pleas help lol

I would call to make sure, 2004-2006 had 2 different hp ratings. You want the 160 HP motor

Also by chance do you know why it needs a new engine? The reason I ask is it may just need some fixing or it may have a locked up pump liner and someone thinks the engine is blown because it won't turn over when in fact it is not the engine causing the problem, In any event I was just throwing this out F Y I

The guy we bought it from said his mechanic said it was bad but we are going to have e ours look at before we do anything plus the boat has been sitting for 3 years

You need to have someone look at it because 3 years can seriously lock up the pump liner.
Also the spark plugs would be a good place to look for evidence of a bad engine they can tell you a lot.
If the block doesn't have a rod sticking through the side I would be looking at all the suspects before buying a new engine no matter what you paid for it . I have had many experiences with S B T they are in my neighborhood and I just drive there when I need something. my experience with rebuilt engines has never ben really good but this was the 2 stroke engines , I have never needed to buy one for a 4 stroke knock on wood . Do some research on the pump liner swelling issue there is a lot of info on the internet about this. People actually make new all stainless pump housings now to avoid that problem.

Keep us informed, when you share info here everyone wins.

Saw an interesting video of low compression fix for this yamaha engine by cleaning with Sea foam being poured while running into the throttle body. Interesting stuff of legends. (Dirty valve was the cause on this engine)

Best of luck. it might not be a whole engine swap.

All 07+ 230s are HO engines so that should make it easier to pinpoint. As noted also CCs are different. Also gauges (oem speed and tach) state "high output"when equipped for all years.

I read too many horror stories about sbt. Get the yds obdii reader off ebay. Does it turn over? If not pull the plugs and shoot some oil intro each cylinder and let it sit for a day or two. Crank again with no plugs and a fresh battery / charger.
