I picked up a 5’ roll of AMAZON special EvaFoam pad. I cut it with a razor knife, then used my router for the edging. Is it perfect, no. Was it $100 per pad, hell no!!! $25 well spent, what y’all think? It’s stone grey over blue camo…

Thanks, I'm pretty shaky with my router LoL, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I couldn't drop $80-$100 on just a pad for these.

What router bit? wouldn't be too hard to build a guide for a perfect cut

It was a 1/2" flat with a 40 degree bevel on the side. I used a guide on the straight sections, on the curves I freehanded.

Quick plywood/mdf template for the edge and a bearing bit, and they'd look like it came off a CNC. Nice work for freehand!

@1BadTundra , this popped up on the list of similar threads, so I was rereading it.

Was the sheet of foam already done with the lines/seams, and you just had to trim it to width and match the edge lines to the interior (or field portion)? Hopefully that makes sense, I don't know how to describe what I'm trying to say better than that right now ?

That's nice work, regardless, considering how much they want for just one of those cooler toppers. I bet that whole sheet cost less than one topper!

The cordless trim routers that are available nowadays are better, and feel more controllable, but you aren't lying about that being a difficult job to freehand! Props for attempting it, had to be some pucker factor with those corners!
