My name is Greg, I'm in the US Coast Guard and am new to the Jet Boat world. Just pulled the trigger on a new 2016 AR240(white with black graphics) . Having it delivered next month. I've been a member of this site for a while and love it. I've followed your members you tube videos of your Bimini trips. Hopefully the wife and I will participate next year. I am originally from Fort Lauderdale and the folks are still there.

That's awesome!!! Congrats on the new boat. Make sure to take lots of pics when it arrives. ;)

@Greg Bergstrom Congratulations on your new boat! A beauty for sure! i Look forward to following your adventures in your first Jetboat!

Thanks...the wife and I are super excited. I've already started making my list of stuff to buy for the boat! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

@Greg Bergstrom, congratulations. Update your profile with where you are from so we can see where you will be taking that great boat

Oh man this place is great for helping people spend their money. Me first, me first!

FULL SEADEK!!!!!

Congrats Greg! Hope to hear much about your future escapades.

Congratulations! I am excited with you. As far as what to buy first--everything! Seriously we have several lists we have composed over the months in the General section. Welcome!

Congrats on the purchase and thank you for your service. You picked a great boat and this forum is an excellent resource.

Congrat, and welcome aboard. . . . . Your wallet is going to hate you. = )

Congrats I saw that boat at the boat show last month love the graphics and colors. I no what somebody's dreaming about until delivery.:winkingthumbsup" Thanks for your service

Thank all of you! Yeah, I have to sit down and do a budget so I don't go broke buying stuff for the boat...and Yes I will be dreaming of my boat. We live in Memphis for the next year and 3 months so we will probably be boating on Sardis Lake, MS and Pickwick Lake, MS most of the time. Anyone in this area?? Maybe we can meet up on the water sometime.

Be sure to update your location in your profile so folks can find you too. . .

I'm taking delivery on the 12th of April. Not gonna lie, I'm both excited and nervous. I've never driven a jet boat. Anything I should know....tips. I'm sure it will be a piece of cake with some practice. It's gonna look like a tug boat, I'm gonna have so many fenders on it.

My tip is to get her out in open water and practice doing some in depth slow speed maneuvering. . . . . . It will help build confidence in and around the dock.

Specifically, remember that you have 2 engines and can literally spin the boat in place (on a dime) by placing one throttle lever in forward and the other in reverse.

This can obviously be done in either direction and use of the steering wheel can increase the rate which you spin without touching the throttles.

Congrats on the new boat! Bet you can't wait for her to arrive...especially when we get these nice 70 degree days!!!!

Congratulations! Very excited for you.

The open water advice is good. Here is the other bit of advice: go SLOWLY. It is easy to bump the throttles too much, send a spray of water out the back and send your boat going some direction you didn't really mean to do. You can learn and maneuver just fine even just moving the throttles between 'neutral' and the first detent (before you increase the engine speed). You will soon learn why I put 'neutral' in quotes. But by going to the first detent, all you are doing is having the engine at idle and moving the bucket covering the jet up.

Be prepared for a world of fun.

Congrats with the new AR240!
