Does anyone know of a heavier-duty version of these straps? I have had a few of them, and really liked using them, but the buckles or the rubber strap quickly break which have left me searching for a floating fender. So far I have been successful recovering them...

I've always used Fender Tenders. Mine are 5 years old and still going strong. On my 232, I clipped one to the hand rail under the tower, another to the top of the windshield near the seam, and the front set didn't use a Tender but were tied to the bow hand rail. I also struggled (more like the crew) with which fender goes in which location and I finally solved that with the following scheme:
Bow: white fenders
Mid: blue fenders
Stern: white fenders + Fender Tenders

Sometimes it's the little things that help everyone out! I also like it because I can easily see how they are setting up the fenders.

Since I wet-slipped the 232 at the lake, I only used the fenders without clips attached to the mid-ship cleat. For the first few years, I did use four fenders while in the slip, but it just became overkill and they weren't needed (as my slip is clear in the back of the marina where there is no wave action at all).

Now on the 242, I'll have to investigate where and how to hang fenders on that beast

I use the Fender Tenders also. Had the same confusion with which one goes where, so I got out my labeling machine and put a label on the top of each: Fore, Mid, Aft.

x3 for fender tenders. Work great and makes it easier for others to put them out.

I saw the Fender Grips at the NYC boat show recently and bought some on Amazon. They look like they should be quick to set and very reliable but I haven't tried them out yet.

I tie up almost every weekend with buddies - pontoons, runabouts, wake boats - the only thing I've found that is "break proof" is standard fender lines.

Used ones very similar to the Basspro ones above for a few years on my old searay. The main support straps became brittle from UV exposure over time. Ended up using a clove hitch to fix to rails. I still use a clove hitch to attach fender lines to my tower. Pretty quick and will not break if you forget to pull them up while underway.

Another vote for fender tenders. They make it quick and consistent when you friends that want to "help".

Thanks for all the input. Looks like I am buying some Fender Tenders.

I tried a set of cheapie carabiners on mine when I was out on Friday. Worked OK, but then one of the carabiners died....I bought...too cheap.

I'll see if I can find a better set and try again. Makes it real quick to snap on and then disconnect and bring inboard.
