Well I finally pulled the trigger on this 18 212X and am waiting for delivery. I’ve been a long time lurker, researcher and drooler. The boat comes with ridesteady and the wake booster so we plan on doing a little surfing. I also plan to purchase the transom bag as well. I’m coming off of a 18 foot I/O so the jet will be new to me but my family and I are super excited to finally be on a Yamaha. Any tips for a first time jetboater/212X owner?

Welcome and congrats on the boat! Looks like somebody did a lot of the mods for you already. I’ve got a 2019 212x. A few specific things for our boats:

1. The Bimini top. Spend a little time figuring it out in the driveway before you try to open it up on the water. Also, when wakesurfing, you’ll want it down to the 2nd or 3rd setting so that the rope is rubbing less on the top of the Bimini. You’ll need to pull down super hard/practically hang from the back pole to get it clicked in to the lowest setting.
2. Swim deck stereo. If your year has the swim deck stereo controls and you have little kids on the boat... there is a cover you can get. It’s totally worth it to have because otherwise somebody invariably bumps the volume controls while playing around anchored. I linked to the cover in a thread on the forum.
3.Tow mirror. That thing is a monster. I found it to always be in the way when I was trying to dock. I ended up getting the CIPA-180 mirror head this year, mounting it to the PTM base and moving it to the passenger side. The angle works ok to still see your riders and it gets the mirror out of your direct line of site.

Enjoy!

Welcome and congrats!

Welcome to the 212x family..the fastest model in the lineup....Beautiful boat and it comes with one of the best mods Ridesteady already installed! Getting acclimated to the Jets takes some practice, especially without any steering enhancements. If your a lurker you know you have some options...discussed here. Find an empty dock or throw a bumper in the water and work on your maneuvering moves. I utilize the shifters on our 212x around the docks or fueling like a twin screw inboard and pivot in small spaces. I have the @Cobra Jet Steering LLC and it helps a lot.
Happy Boating!!
