Finally pulled the trigger, New Tow Rig!

When we bought our AR240 last year I already had my 2010 F150 with 4.6 3V. It did "ok" but you had to keep your foot in it and going up steep long hills resulted in high RPMs and the Transmission getting close to the Red zone. NO WAY I would use it to pull all the way to Florida next year.

Pulled the boat while test driving, what a difference! This thing doesn't even break a sweat.

For those with the same rig, how much drop on the hitch are you using? I have a 3 1/4 currently.

Nice looking truck!! That hitch should be fine, I have a 5-1/4" on my F250 and it is too much. I need to switch to the 3-1/4".

I have the same truck only a 2016. I am running the same drop. You should be good.

I have a 2015 Platinum with the 3.5 EB. I love it! Handles my Crownline with no issues

I have the same truck with a 21 footer. I run zero drop I was using a 2 inch drop but was not level. I am almost dead level with a bubble level on the tongue.

Very nice! We love our F-150! I don't know if its because ours is a 4x4 sport but we have to raise the hitch rather that drop it to get the trailer level. Just an interesting tidbit. You can actually see in the picture in my signature that we are dropping by 2 inches and the trailer is a tad nose down. We have since changed this to raise the tongue.

Interesting. I'll have to get it on some flat ground and take a look. The FX4 might sit higher but I'm not sure. Thanks!

Thanks, Ave around town has been 18. Taking it on a 3.5 hour highway trip this evening so I'll get an idea of highway mileage. Have't towed the boat enough to really know yet. Fuel economy was't really the factor for buying it, the 470 lb-ft of torque is what I was after

I will let you know but I've heard these are really ECO or BOOST. You get good mileage with regular driving but when the turbos are kicking in when towing not so much.

The mileage isn't going to be good. That isn't really a secret either it's kind of the point. Good mileage for your everyday driving poor under load. If you are a weekend warrior, great (which makes up the majority of truck owners), but if you are always towing something, make sure you know where the nearest gas station is.

I get 11-13 towing my atv trailer or the yamaha. I have had the 5.4 and the 5.0 motors and they were about the same. The 3.5 is the first motor that I cant tell that I am towing when pulling away from a stop sign or running up hills though.

nice truck! I have a '13 FX4 with the 5.0v8 and have been eyeing the new models with the 2nd gen Ecoboost. I think I am going to hold out a few years and see how the diesel performs they are putting in the '18.

I got the max tow package with 36 gal tank so I can go a long way

same on mine. I don't have the 10 speed though. But in fairness I am tuned as well.

I don't tow my boat much since mine its on the water usually, but when I needed a new car, I decided to get something that wouldn't have any issues. 2017 Yukon Denali with the 6.2L. With the auto-leveling magnetic ride and engine power, its like pulling a single waverunner.
