We are looking to make our first boat purchase and have decided on Yamaha. There are 2 available boats we're considering and, as I'm new to this whole world, I'm hoping for some advice and thoughts on the 2014 242 Limited S vs the 2015 AR240 HO. Price is similar (within a couple thousand $), hours similar, like the looks of both. I'd appreciate any useful input. Thanks! Looking forward to the process and getting out on the water!

2015 was the first year for new hull design on 24' boats . I never owned or operated a Yamaha before 2016 but I understand from other members that is was a big handling change with the keel running the length of boat on the 2015s and newer . Might want some input from others that have owned both ? Good luck in you search.

The 2015 has the newer version hull with the articulating keel, sound deadening enhancements, and the Connext screen at the helm. The Connext option may be good or bad depending on how you look at it.

I just went from a 2006 SX230 to a 2015 242 Limited S and the handling is quite a bit different - I personally would go with the 2015 and newer boats.

What would you say the biggest difference is?

Its more stable in chop and the low speed handling when going forward is better. Reverse is still the same but that's what they make Lateral Thrusters for. :)

I went with the 2015 due to the hull updates and like the digital screen (Connext). We love our 2015 AR240!
