I added a JL M600/ and a pair of Polk DB401's to the swim platform this weekend. To start, I made a mounting board and 2 mounting strips from birch. I covered them with fiberglass resin then painted em with white paint. I mounted the assembly to the helm compartment and fiber glassed it to the boat by first sanding away the manufacturers white protective coating. Once secure, I began on the Polk DB401 installation. I used a hole saw for the hole after taking VERY careful measurements, then ran the cables to the amp (the attached pictures only show the 4 speakers, not all 6... I know, I know). Im also almost finished with the HD-RLC installation which will control the attenuation of the swim platform speakers while underway.

The stock speakers sound VERY good with this amp, and will sound even better when they get replaced with the JL 7.7 speakers (in addition to adding a 2nd set to the cockpit). The Polks on the swim platform actually sound pretty good! They were, in my opinion, the best, largest speakers I could find that would work out there.

Great Job!

I notice you have quite a collection of corks :winkingthumbsup"

Cool job looks good

Looks good. 4" speakers look as large as you can go there. That is why I did the 3"s ones because I wasn't sure if 4"s would fit. Glad it worked out for you.

paul075 I figure for $55, I would gamble that the speakers would fit, and they did (but JUST BARELY). If they didn't, I would have then ordered the 3"s.

Awesome install. Looks sharp. Wanna come up to Apopka and do mine???

Troy, if you decided you wanted to do the same, i would be more than happy to help. Was frightening to drill a hole in my new boat, but satisfying for it to be right.

@JWPrendergast it's true, I am afraid to put holes in my boat. :( But maybe I'll take you up on your offer during the next off season.
