Hey guys thanks for having me here. I just recently bought my first boat, a 94 Regal Rush. I was happy with the purchase after testing it. Once I put it in the water after buying it, I haven't gotten it started yet. Any help or tips on getting it running would be greatly appreciated. I tried calling a few marine mechanics in a 3 hour radius (13 shops) they either don't work on my type of boat or a backed up for a month. I've decided to try myself.

Welcome aboard!
Sorry to hear your troubles.
I am not familiar with your model, but Have you checked the safety switches and ensured the throttle is in neutral?

Does the boat make a cranking sound?

Glad to have you on board, Update your profile with your location so we know where you are

What engine do you have?

Is the starter cranking?

Shifter in neutral? Safety lanyard properly inserted?

+1 for Safety lanyard...... Been there. Never felt anger, relief, embarrassment and then joy so quickly in my life.

It's a 3 cylinder 2 stroke 90hp mercury engine. It cranks when you start it, it almost feels like it catches but dies out right away. I do connect the safety and throttle is in neutral. I will update my profile I'm in Montreal Quebec. I'm thinking maybe a tune up/carb adjustment?

Squirt a few shots of starting fluid in the carb. If it starts than dies, then it may be a fuel delivery issue. Fuel filter clogged, bad gas, clogged needles ect.

To find if its fuel related on 2 stroke, 4 stroke, big or small engines, bypass the carb with ether as Dixiemon advised. If it fires you're half way there. Good luck, keep us posted,

We've done that and got it fired. I think it's the other half were missing haha

So we had it connected to a water supply out of the water and it started everytime. But once it hits the water I can't get it started

Almost like there is too much restriction on the impeller from the water

How's your battery? Does it sound like the starter is turning over the same rpms in and out of the water?

100% not. Out of the water it's beautiful. I. The water it struggles. Wondering if I should add a second battery? There is a spot for one so I'm assuming there was once 2 batteries
