First time out on the water this year ... got off to a great start - quick launch, fast run up the lake, then floated around listening to the stereo for a while.

Then I tried to start the boat. The starter turned over, volt meter read 11.8 volts, but no ignition. As I was getting closer and closer to the shore, I finally got it started.

A free JetBoaters.net license plate or license plate frame to the first person who reports what the problem was.

You pulled the kill switch somehow?

Lanyard not seated in properly?

If it turns over perhaps Safety Lanyard? If not perhaps neutral safety.

Rear deck storage door not closed all the way.

Throttles not in neutral?

Weak battery. Not enough juice. After a couple of cranks you volt meter dropped to 11.6 volts. You ended up jumping the engine with a carry on lithium battery jump/boost pack which saved the day!

Am I right, am I right????

This would be a great puzzler for the car guys of Car Talk. Gosh I loved them.

Ah, you are right. Bad guess for me.

Battery selector switch on the house battery?

Well, this one was, ultimately, pretty easy. I still felt like a dumba$$. @Julian wins - with @mark_m a very close second. Julian, let me know whether you want a plate or frame -- then if you want a black or white background -- then what color of star you want. You can PM me with your choice and your shipping address. Mark, you're in Columbus -- I'll buy you a beer on the lake sometime if we ever meet.

The lanyard issue caused me to get the jump pack out (thinking 11.8 volts wouldn't cut it - yep @swatski - you nailed that one, were just a tad late! lol).

@swatski -- I loved and miss the Car Talk guys -- love Click and Clack.

@tdonoughue -- the neutral safety switch was a problem later in the day. After I fired it up and cruised the lake, I stopped again ... tried to start ... silence. Yep, neutral. That just took 5 seconds to figure out though.

Welcome to Spring!

Julian,

Very thoughtful of you! Thank you and to David D for the swag. I'll get a snapshot on the trailer once I get the plate frame.

Thanks!
Mark

Mark, I missed the UPSP pickup today ... going out tomorrow - you should have it on Friday!

I was on Alum yesterday too, along with the rest of Central Ohio. Crazy .... sorry I missed you among the multitude.
