Today we took the new 212SS out. It was cold 52 but sunny and no one else on the lake. It was my first time out as a owner of a boat. Everything went fine EXCEPT for retrieving the boat. I used the check list from this site for everything EXCEPT the retrieving. LOL I put the trailer in to deep and every time I approached I would just float around. Some fisherman came over and told me I was to deep. Pulled the truck up with a few feet of bunk showing and all went well. Yes, the check list tells you to leave 3-4' out of the water. This was the one page I did not read. UGH....

We did the break in as outlined in the manual then we had some fun. WOW can these boats fly. The girls and I had a blast. Some picks are below. Note the one of me holding the check list prior to launch.

This site helped me so much today. My wife even wondered how I knew what to do.

Congrats, looks like the family approves!

glad you had a good time, it's always best the first time out to be a lonely day with no expectations but to get it back on the trailer when the trip is over,

YOU....might just be doing it right.......:winkingthumbsup"

Awesome, congrats on a great first day out. Looked a bit chilly, but still fun. Now youre all ready for warmer weather.

@bgood188, you always want to back down far enough to just see the forward part of the trailer wheel wells sticking out the water. This leaves a good bit of the bunks exposed and will make retrieving much easier not having to worry about the stern fish tailing. After a few outings, you'll be doing it like an old pro.

Congrats!

Execellent pics! I wonder who's checklist that might be?;)

Memories in the making! What @pagekl says is right on! And if you are loading places that often have current (rivers) or heavy cross winds (open ramps), guide post make loading so much easier and less stressful.

AWESOME! It looks like the family is going to have fun this summer.

Txav8r. Thanks for the check list. It went perfect and the check list helped ( if I read them for retrieving).

This site is awesome!

@bgood188 Somewhere around step 97 on Mel's checklist I'm guessing you were like, "Forget this, its time to go fast!!!!" Completely understandable…

Congrats on the first trip and many more too come!

Thanks. I'll take all the coaching I can get.
