So today on Lake Michigan we had some very fun waves! My father in law saw it differently and got off early but he has a 19 foot non jet so what does he know. I mean cmon, what's the point of buying stainless impellers if you can't beat the snot out of em? I digress...
While we were jumping waves one engine cut out!

I of course check the clean out hatch right away and say DOH!
See, last year i forgot to put the plugs in and i shot them right through the hatch busting the latch. Closed it down and haven't had an issue since. Well, till today. So moral of the story is to fix your latches and hatches so you can jump and bump!

Picture of soaked bow cover! Lol! My kids love it as long as they know i am in control and actually sit up front to try and get air! Ok so that may not be safe but.....

That sounds like fun!
The big cabin cruisers create a deep wake that is perfect to run across for some air time...but when the four teenagers in the bow were all airborne, suspended above the seats in apparent weightlessness, maybe I went a little to far...
Acceleration at the top of the mountainous wake produces some great G-forces but I'm supposed to be the adult here.

I gotta go find some waves!

I have had to replace all three hatch latches since we bought our boat, the newer style ones seem more stout.

@Speedling , I get it, it is fun! But it will loosen and possibly break things. I always worried about the flex on towers or windshields too, they don't like the twisting and flexing as they can cause gelcoat spider cracks too. And I have read about the seat pedestal breaking earlier boats specifically but certainly could on a later model boat. Let's face it, you have to work on a race car every time you go to the track. Same with a boat that is used for more than what it was intended. That's not to say that the boat can't take it, but as you know, a repair or two may be in order! I remember the captured pics that used to even have a video, of the boats Yamaha took to the gulf and tested in the approach or aftermath of a past tropical disturbance down there. We loved seeing the beating the boat could take. But I did read that there was damage from that beating...but man, what fun that would be if you could remove or support all structures that could be damaged and just have fun with it!

I admit that i keep checking my tower and bimini bolts!
Just installed the bimini Saturday!

Fyi, i have taken precautions as well. Anchor locker is padded, all "luggage" secured, amps protected with towels being the closest.
I don't jump like that photo.
I just dream of Bimini wave jumping.

@Speedling But wouldn't you like to do it once? Ok, ok, once successful will result in repeated jumps! lol the damage isn't a result of the jump, it's a result of the landing!

I would call it Bimini pretesting. ;)
Watch the Exhuma vids the boys put up earlier this year - if you want to feel better already.
Granted the Yammie boat there was @1948Isaac's 2015 ar240 (with the keel) - those really cut through water kind of different.
But -- 5ft seas are still 5ft seas (at 45mph). Just ask @robert843.

I took my 190 out there this year, was very impressed - with zero damage. My wife was less impressed though (as attested by my signature changes).

Well, I think I did a little of this yesterday by accident. It had to have been the first rogue wave ever on our inland fresh water Chain of Lakes. My throttles were pinned forward and we were at top speed. The water was a little choppy and then all of a sudden I see this much larger than normal wave right in front of me. No time to slow down, so I tried to point the bow into the wave, but still missed the best position. I swear we were airborne for seconds. It felt like the picture that txav posted above. Everyone was screaming but no accidents if you know what I'm sayin'. No damage done. Gotta say, these Yamaha's are fun to drive!!

Happy Labor Day JB Nation!!

I was on the big lake in Milwaukee yesterday and with the SE winds, it was pretty sporty. I may have had a massive smile on my face when there was more air than water under my hull.....
