it's already been too long since I've been on the boat, so I convinced a couple of friends to take a few days off, drive the 16 hours from Virginia to Key Largo, and spend a few days fishing. Heading down first weekend of November. Any secret spots or recommendations?

Following along. Retiring next Spring and hoping to do a similar trip!.

I don't do much fishing but I'd make drive down to cruise around. I went a few months ago when the water was warmer from key largo to Islamorada.

the plan was to take a buddy's 25' wellcraft. we were working on it yesterday installing 2 new motors and came across a snag. they're 2 strokes. the oil tanks that came with the new motors don't fit (easily) where the old ones were (they're about twice as large) and the sending units are different enough that they can't be swapped into the old tanks. so now we are debating if we should just run the old sending units and hope the new engines can read the proper signals. backup plan is to take my little challenger and maybe have to charter a big boat for one of the days.
