Had been smelling fuel when boat full finally saw it leaking. Filled tank totally full. Gas was leaking from the seal on fuel sending unit on top of tank. There is a rubber seal that looked fine bit i ordered 2 new ones. Curious if i should use any kind of fuel resistant sealant with it.

My boat had a leak in the exact same spot. But mine was aligned improperly though causing the leak. I correct and tightenend and no more leak. If I recall the upgraded self calibrating sending unit only comes with a small gasket and requires no sealant.

The last time we went to the local lake I filled up afterwards, put the cover on the boat. When I took the cover off I smelled fuel everywhere inside the boat. My thought is the gas tank vent next to the cap was letting the fumes out under the cover, it's been hot here in Arizona. Now that I read this post I am going to check for a leak, I recently ordered the new self calibrating sending unit as my fuel gauge is not reading properly, so when it arrives I will check it out during the install.

I thought it was filler hose. Spent 60 bucks and major pain, but it is definatly seal. I have video but not sure how to upload it, says invalid extension

Videos need to be uploaded to a video hosting service like Youtube or FB and then linked here....costs us too much to store and stream video.

Yea figured that think i got it now
Let me know it worked. Thanks

Guess it did, feel like computer genius

I was wondering the same thing I smelled gas the last time.e we were out aswell and when I checked I had a little coming from the left fuel unit was sure if it was a bad gasket or what but now I will check and make sure I have it aligned right

I had the same issue with the smell of gas. I would find fuel in my bilge after I filled up with a full tank too.

I narrowed the leak down by pulling the floor up, while my son pumped gas at the gas station. I could feel the rush of air coming out of the top of my port side fuel pump. Took it home and RTV'ed the top of the pump. Haven't noticed any issues since.

Also, after having fuel in my bilge, I put tons of Simple Green and Dawn Dish Soap into the compartment holding the gas tank. Sprayed down with water. Just made me feel better and peace of mind for any fuel left behind.

Anyone have link to self calibrating fuel guage sender for our boats. 2006 sx230

Done the adjustments in the past. Hoping there are better senders to install

Not sure if the link applies to my boat but every since I started using non ethanol gas may gauge stays on full but before it worked

If your tank says Manufactured by Moeller Marine Products Model 5314, then you can use the same self calibrating sender in the link provided about by @Scottintexas

Call Mary at 386-423-3574 between 8a-2p EST Mon/THU with the 395088 part number. Tell her its for gasoline you'd like to buy a programmable version of that sender so you'll have Full Detection.

excellent thank you
