Hello all, I currently own a 23' Sugar Sand Oasis. I have a friend that loves the way my jet boat handles and is looking to buy a Yamaha SX240 HO. He has found one and we were wondering if there are any common problems he should look for, questions he should ask,or any suggestions (in general), or if anybody on here has any helpful hints for him. Thanks.

Check the oil cooler bolts other then that just look for obvious wear or neglect.

The 2010 oil coolers in the 240 series sometimes leaked through broken held bolts or warping of the face. Cost for an entire cooler (Yamaha doesn’t sell it in parts) is about $700. Just feel around the face and it’s border for oil and missing bolt heads.

Check Intermediate shaft and housing. If the boat is used in salt water, that bearing can and will require attention at the 10 year mark. Especially if it does not get required grease. Just had mine done, requires moving the engines a bit for access/change out. Mine is also for sale under classifieds. Vero Beach, FL
